'The Smart Grid Demonstration Project’ in Jeju has been in development since 2019. In the 2020 Green New Deal Expo, which was held last month on the 28th in Seoul, Jeju exhibited hydrogen fuel cell drones that are currently being used in the safety and administration fields. In fact, during last April, Jeju Island used the drone to deliver masks to nearby islands, such as Gapado, where there are no pharmacies or post offices.

Recently, an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) was successfully sent to Mt. Halla using the hydrogen fuel drone, which can fly up to two hours. The drone successfully delivered AED in 15 

minutes from the Jeju Fire Control Training Center and Campground of Gwanemsa Temple to the shelter of Samgakbong Peak which is located at an altitude of 1,500 meters. This was in cooperation with the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters to deliver emergency first aid kits to the site quickly, as the number of accidents on Halla mountain has increased.

In the future, Jeju Island is planning to shorten first aid kit delivery time so that the golden time can be secured and is seeking practical use of the drones in connection with the Jeju Fire Headquarters’ accident management system.
